Serralves presents in the fall new exhibition ‘Miró e Poesia’

Casa de Serralves, in Porto, will host a new exhibition in the fall, entitled ‘Miró e Poesia’, part of the collection of works by the Catalan artist deposited there, today announced the foundation.

In the highlights of the 2020 programming presented today, the Serralves Foundation reveals that Miró’s new exhibition is curated by the expert and academic Robert Lubar Messeri, who was also behind ‘Materiality and Metamorphosis’ and’ Joan Miró and Death of the Painting ‘.

The Serralves Foundation also confirmed that the works, outlined by Álvaro Siza, of adaptation of the Serralves House to host the Miró Collection from the former Portuguese Business Bank will be done this year.

Works of the Miró collection deposited in Serralves continue until February, exhibited in Naples, under the exhibition ‘Joan Miró and the Language of Signs’.

Regarding the intervention at Casa de Serralves, in late 2018, Álvaro Siza Vieira stated that he will not be noticed by the visitor, without changes in the windows, exterior or interior walls.

Under the Protocol of Deposit and Cultural Promotion between the Porto City Council and the Serralves Foundation on the 85 State-owned works of Miró now handed over to the city, the City Council has committed to finance, up to one million euros, the extension, remodeling or conservation works of Casa de Serralves, which will host the works of Miró.

The municipality has also pledged an annual payment of 100 thousand euros to the Serralves Foundation for 25 years, so that the collection is protected and promoted nationally and internationally.
