Skateboarding, urban art, an environmental awareness initiative, and concerts with young artists from the region are highlights of Setúbal Jam, a new event taking place in the city on August 21st
The first edition of Setúbal Jam, to be held at Skate Parque de Setúbal, located in the Algodeia area, between 10 am and 9 pm, includes dozens of activities promoted with the involvement of the region’s youth, namely youth associations, artists and athletes.
The event’s main objective is to work on inclusion and the values of citizenship, solidarity and belonging using skateboarding, a sport that made its debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games and is usually understood as radical and less accessible.
The promotion of social development in the territory, with the strengthening of the associative movement and bringing youth closer to the city, is another purpose of the initiative, which has young people as its target audience, despite the program being open to the entire community.
Throughout the day, there will be musical shows, live urban art with the participation of nearly two dozen graffiti artists, a demonstration of inclusive skateboarding maneuvers and a “best trick” contest. The venue is equipped with several wooden stands for the presentation and exhibition of new brands.
In addition to music and skateboarding, the Setúbal Jam, which is free to enter, has an initiative to collect beats and build beatons, in addition to approving a proposal for a resolution on the issue.
The musical poster presents concerts with DJ Décio and Santimob, between 10:00 am and 4:30 pm, NASTYBEE, at 5:00 pm, Diogo Guima, at 6:15 pm, Moços do Bêco, at 7:30 pm, and Cozy, Isotw, Migvi, Niko and Tomxs, a from 8:15 pm.
From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the program reserves workshops for customizing boards, promoted by All aBoard. There are also beginner skate classes guided by the Portuguese Skating Federation, between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm.
The debut edition of Setúbal Jam has partnerships with All aBoard, Blood Brothers, Explicit Citizens, Moços do Bêco and the environmental association Feel 4 Planet.
