Casino Lisboa hosts “Sex and Age” on September 24th, at 9 p.m., featuring a star-studded cast. This new UAU comedy brings together Diogo Valsassina, Jorge Mourato, Manuel Marques, and Pedro Teixeira. This is a fun series of performances that perfectly kicks off a new season of shows at the Ocean Auditorium.
Vasco (Jorge Mourato) is celebrating his birthday. Or rather: trying to survive his own. A failed writer, bankrupt, and recently abandoned by his wife (whom he still hasn’t forgotten), he decides to gather his old friends for a night that, in theory, should be a celebration… but which quickly turns into a minefield of egos, hurt feelings, and well-told lies.
Rui (Pedro Teixeira), the soap opera heartthrob Vasco is angry with (for having an affair with his ex-wife); Miguel (Diogo Valsassina), a psychologist and self-help coach who, more than anyone, needed urgent therapy; and Duarte (Manuel Marques), a lawyer without a job but full of theories—all come with stories of success, achievements, and self-confidence. But none of it is quite true.
At the table, between drinks and vanity, the most talked about… is women. The exes, the current ones, the imagined ones, and the impossible ones. With humour, exaggeration, and a lot of ignorance, the four friends try to decipher what they never understood. If only they knew what people say when they’re alone…
“Sex and the Age” is a comedy that delves into the male universe with sarcasm, affection, and a healthy dose of stupidity. A comical—and sometimes disconcerting—portrayal of friendship, masculinity, desires, and the eternal attempt to look good… even when everything goes wrong.
