The second edition of the campaign “Dinheiro Miúdo para os Miúdos” starts today, an initiative aimed at raising funds to support projects intended to improve education and promote equal opportunities for children in Portugal.
To improve teaching-learning conditions, the campaign seeks to ensure that all “kids” can develop skills, knowledge, and competencies, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances or the educational context in which they are situated. The initiative will run from September 18 to October 27 and aims to reduce inequalities in the educational system, ensuring that all children have a dignified school journey free of adversities.
The president of SIC Esperança, Mercedes Balsemão, highlighted the importance of this action: “Education has always been our focus because we believe it is the only sustainable way to break the cycle of poverty and provide equal opportunities for all.”
The “Dinheiro Miúdo para os Miúdos” campaign also seeks to raise awareness and mobilize Portuguese society about the power of collective contributions: small amounts, when combined, can transform the reality of many educational projects and, consequently, the lives of countless children.
People can contribute in two ways: through donations, which can be made via the piggy banks distributed throughout the country, through MB WAY, or by bank transfer (IBAN), or through volunteering, either individually or on behalf of an entity (company, educational institution, IPSS, among others).
The campaign has Renascença as a media partner and is supported by various entities, such as Germano de Sousa, ACP, MB WAY, Santos e Vale, and Expresso BPI Golf Cup.
Since its foundation, SIC Esperança has raised over 10 million euros, established more than 400 partnerships, supported over 4500 social solidarity institutions, developed over 500 projects, and benefited more than one and a half million people.
