Simão Oliveira launches debut EP today, ‘O Rapaz’

Album is presented by the single 'Mas Falta Escrever Na Lua', now available

At just 14 years old, Simão Oliveira won The Voice Kids program and quickly became one of the most charismatic artists on the national scene. Influenced by artists such as Amália Rodrigues, António Zambujo or Tony de Matos, Simão Oliveira launches today his long-awaited debut EP, entitled ‘O Rapaz‘.

This is clearly an album marked by fado. In addition to the single ‘Mas Falta Escrever Na Lua‘ – originally performed by Tony de Matos and now with arrangements by Diogo Clemente, who has worked with great fado names such as Sara Correia, Carminho, Cuca Roseta or Raquel Tavares – this EP also contains songs such as the famous ‘O Homem das Castanhas‘ (original by Carlos do Carmo), ‘Tinta Verde‘ (by Vitorino), ‘Orlando‘ (with lyrics and music by Rui Veloso and Carlos Tê) and even ‘O Rapaz‘, which Simão performed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where he won the best score ever for Portugal (11th place).

Simão Oliveira has distinguished himself for dedicating himself to fado and Portuguese popular music, revealing a unique ability to perform, even more so for a 15-year-old.

This talent was visible when Simão presented the singleMas Falta Escrever na Lua‘ live at the final gala of The Voice Kids.

Simão Oliveira is undoubtedly one of the youngest and most exciting voices in fado and Portuguese song.
