The musicians Simone and Ivan Lins will perform on February 7, at Casino Estoril, outside Lisbon, presenting an alignment that will include songs like ‘Beginning of New’ and ‘Desperate’, was announced today.
Both singer Simone, 69, and musician and singer Ivan Lins, 73, have performed regularly in Portugal; the creator of ‘Ticket’ played solo in 2012, and in 2017 she toured with Zélia Duncam, who also went through the stage of the Casino’s Preto and Prata hall.
Ivan Lins has already shared the stage with Carlos do Carmo, Pedro Abrunhosa and Paulo de Carvalho, among other Portuguese artists, and in 2009, the year he played in the casino, he undertook to develop an art school and a symphony orchestra in the Cova da Moura, in the county of Amadora.
The casino refers to artists as “two stars that are icons of Brazilian popular music”, which are re-found fourteen years after the album ‘Baiana da Gema’, in which Simone recorded thirteen songs by Lins.
The first time they performed together was in Brazil, in 1972, when, on their debut album, Simone recorded Ivan Lins’ “Arrived a Hora”.
“From what I know” and “Bold” are other themes, “among many other classics by Ivan Lins”, which will be interpreted in this show, according to the same source.
Simone began singing in the 1970s, after becoming a basketball player, having been part of the Brazilian national team.
In 1972 he recorded his first album and performed the first concerts in Europe, including Portugal.
Ivan Lins stars in a career of about 50 years. In 1979 an invitation from the American musician Quincy Jones opened the doors to him of the international market.
Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRea, Manhatten Transfer, George Benson began to sing their songs, which were most recently visited by Barbra Streisand, Sting and Jane Monheit.
Lins was nominated twice for the Latin Grammies in 1997 and 2000.
