Simple Minds by Jim Kerr returned to Portugal with the 40 Years of Hits Tour, celebrating four decades of music, 21 edited works and millions of fans around the world including Portuguese, who raved about the songs of the Scottish band in Campo Pequeno.
Jim Kerr, after taking Simple Minds to Porto, came to Lisbon, with his usual energy on stage, even if it’s not the same as in other times, 62 years old, he doesn’t forgive, but in reality that didn’t matter, because the fans, who don’t go to new ones either, raved anyway, parents, many accompanied by their children, sang, danced and raved to every chord of the band.
The Simple Minds, collect successes, and although they became known in the second half of the 80’s thanks to MTV and the hit ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ followed by ‘Sanctify Yourself’, ‘Alive and Kicking’ or ‘Belfast Child’, the band was formed in Glasgow in 1977, and Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the only original members of the band, took to the Lisbon room a show that intended to span the four decades of the band’s history.
Jim Kerr thanked the audience for their presence, for having saved the ticket between postponements due to the pandemic, and said that the concert would be long, with successes, good and less good songs, adding that it is the good ones that make the best even better.
This was an excellent concert to remember or to get to know the fantastic work of Simple Minds, considered one of the 100 most influential bands in the world, alongside names like Radiohead, Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers or The Killers.
