The duo Butter & Perttu release their first single ‘Helium‘ on all platforms.
But who are Butter & Perttu? Butter is a German singer and songwriter who has worked for and with international artists such as Dido, James Arthur and Celine Dion among others. Perttu is a Finnish producer who has worked with Bonnie Strange and has remixed themes by international pop artists such as Billie Eilish, for example.
In the last two years, the songwriter and producer have created the duo’s debut EP between Portugal and Finland. By the way, Butter (artistic name of Vera Bohl) lives in the Algarve in a countryside area, as he tells us “this theme was composed in a countryside area, far from everything. But that same area became my home. I love Nature and the people here. I find them affectionate, affectionate and in tune with what is important in life“. For those who have always lived in big cities, the difference not only in the country but in lifestyle changes the perception of things, as the artist confirms again “in big cities we are always chasing or being in the middle of money, sex, fame, love. I found here the perfect balance between family, food and nature“.
As we indicated in the very first paragraph, Butter has worked with some of the greatest artists of recent years. We asked the producer how it happened and what she felt in those moments. The producer tells us that “I have been incredibly lucky to work with such talented people. My biggest influence is my Grammy-winning collaboration partner P*Nut for Amy Winehouse, Santana or Dido. He taught me all about writing songs. I helped out on a Dido theme, Love to Blame, and when I saw my name next to Kendrick Lamar or Brian Eno I felt blessed“.
But, with Butter living in Portugal, does he know the musical reality of our country? Your protagonists? The producer tells us that “I’m currently thinking about collaborating with Portuguese artists and producers. I met Syro in Lisbon and was impressed with his work and performance. Producer Ariel is super talented and creative and so I’m looking forward to knowing more. I also want to connect with more established artists and musicians and, together with Perttu, think about playing live“.
Helium has been featured in some of the most celebrated publications like Wonderland Magazine or Celeb Mix. In these reviews, the focus has been the disco-sound tone of the theme combined with Butter’s smooth voice in lyrics that speak of female empowerment.
