The Chão de Oliva Theater Company, with the support of the Municipality of Sintra, promotes another edition of Periferias – Sintra International Festival of Performing Arts, from 17th to 20th March 2022.
The Festival Periferias has a program full of cultural moments aimed at all ages, such as: theater, music, puppets, animations, performance, exhibition, workshop, street shows and a book fair. The shows will take place at the Sintra Theater House, Olga Cadaval Cultural Center, Santa Isabel Village – Albarraque, São João das Lampas Recreation Society, Vila de Sintra and Estefânea – Sintra.
For Basílio Horta, mayor, the return of the Festival Periferias to Sintra “strengthens the links to culture and our material and natural heritage, providing moments of leisure in municipal spaces and in our streets, with cultural shows for the entire population.”
This International Performing Arts Festival brings together Portuguese artists and artists of different nationalities Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Venezuela and Brazil, always valuing the relationship between arts, cultures, roots and memories, in these current times of rapid information flows, mobility and diasporas various.
The energy transmitted by the event invites us to break the frenetic rhythm we live in to create a pause to listen, feel, learn and take with us different experiences, with performing arts shows that touch us and make us think. Periphery returns to the spring calendar to celebrate life and humanity.
Admission to the various shows of this edition has an associated cost, with the exception of the sessions that take place outdoors, in the streets of Sintra, which are free of charge.
