Green Destinations once again places Sintra in the list of the 100 best sustainable destinations in the world.
Sintra is nominated for the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations 2021, in the “Tourism Reset & Recovery” category, with the participation of a story of good practices carried out by Casa do Valle – Virpi Oliveira and Hotel Sustainability.
Casa do Valle is an establishment classified with the ecological seal “Key Verde” (GreenKey), since 2017, the oldest in Sintra, promoting the efficiency of energy use and measures aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and encouraging so much. the team like guests to adopt a “greener” and socially responsible behavior in maintaining Sintra as a sustainable destination.
The Top 100 Sustainable Stories competition brings together sustainable tourism stories and best practices from destinations around the world to be shared as inspiring examples for others, from tourism professionals to travelers.
The Green Destinations Awards program certifies and promotes sustainable tourist destinations at an international level, according to environmental, socioeconomic and cultural criteria.
This award recognizes the policies and measures implemented by tourist destinations that contribute favorably to the sustainability of their territories, as well as the excellence of their management, which includes aspects such as nature and heritage conservation, waste management, energy and climate.
The list of the 100 most sustainable destinations is prepared annually by Green Destinations, with applications for destinations being analyzed according to 30 sustainability criteria, by an international jury composed of experts from various countries and partners of the foundation.
