Sintra promotes 18th edition of the Painting and Sculpture Prize
Sintra City Council promotes the 18th edition of the Sintra Painting and Sculpture Prize – D. Fernando II, from 1st to 25th of September, with the aim of disseminating and supporting plastic activity, as well as promoting the unique cultural and artistic identity in the municipality.
This initiative is aimed at national and foreign participants residing in Portugal, aged between 18 and 35 years, being granted full thematic freedom as long as they fall within the disciplines of painting and sculpture, admitting all trends and aesthetic trends.
Each competitor may compete with a single work in each discipline, which must be unpublished and original, never exposed before, and of its exclusive authorship and property.
The jury will be composed of 3 elements, namely, a representative of the Municipality of Sintra, the sculptor Vasco Araújo, in the Sculpture Category and the painter Rui Miguel Leitão Ferreira, in the Painting Category. The assessment and selection of the works presented will be carried out within a maximum period of fifteen working days from the end of the deadline for the receipt of applications.
Three prizes will be awarded:
Painting Prize – D. Fernando II, corresponding to the value of €4,000.00 (four thousand euros);
Sculpture Prize – D. Fernando II, corresponding to €4,000.00 (four thousand euros);
Revelation Prize – D. Fernando II, corresponding to €3,000.00 (three thousand euros).
The application form, the data subject information, as well as the respective works of art, must be delivered from the 1st to the 25th of September, addressed to the Municipality of Sintra/Division of Municipal Libraries and Museums, to the MU.SA – Museu das Artes de Sintra, located at Av. Heliodoro Salgado, Estefânia, 2710-505 Sintra.
The delivery of the Sintra D. Fernando II Painting and Sculpture Awards and the respective exhibition will take place in a public ceremony, at a place and date to be indicated in due course.
