August is the month of “Serões no Casino Estoril” and on Friday it was Sissi Martins, Soraia Tavares, and Rubén Madureira taking the stage with António Andrade Santos on the piano.
dropcap]C[/dropcap]asino Estoril reopens the Auditorium and the panoramic Foyer of the Salão Preto e Prata to welcome, exclusively in live stream, an original cycle of concerts and stand-up comedy shows. Artfeist Produções Artísticas is the promoter of this program called “Serões no Casino Estoril”, which takes place between the 9th and 31st of August. This is a timely initiative that aims to boost national culture, taking into account the complex current situation, originated by the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
The concert in Livestream, with the production of Artfeist, started around 22h and could not have started with a better song than with “Don’t Rain On My Parade” by Barbra Streisand by the beautiful voice of Sissi Martins.

After this magnificent start, Rubén Madureira and Soraia Tavares sang a duet of the song “Rewrite The Stars” from the musical The Greatest Showman.
The repertoire chosen by the three artists was made up of Portuguese and foreign songs that they liked and some that had already sung. Sissi Martins, Rubén Madureira, and Soraia Tavares joined the cast of “Simone, O Musical” and also participated in the TVI program “A Tua Cara Não Me Estranha“. Soraia Tavares is also part of the cast of the musical “Chicago“.
Then Rubén Madureira sang “E Depois Do Adeus” by Paulo de Carvalho, artist who will perform today at Casino Estoril, in the context of “Serões no Casino Estoril” in a livestream concert.

Sissi Martins sang “Rosa Sangue” by Amor Electro and recalls Simone de Oliveira, one of the greatest icons in Portuguese history. Then Soraia Tavares sang Rui Veloso‘s “Primeiro Beijo” and Mariza‘s “Ó gente da minha terra”, for which she fell in love from the first time she sang it and now sings it whenever she can.
“I was six or seven years old when my father came home and said: “you have to watch one of my favorite movies”, and, without a doubt, that was one of those moments that mark us forever […]. My father showed me “The Wizard of Oz” and today is one of my favorite movies too” recalls Sissi Martins before singing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow “.
Soraia Tavares then mashup the songs “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R and “Like A Star” by Corinne Bailey Rae, songs that accompanied her a lot during the quarantine.
Ruben Marureira also sang “Lately” by Stevie Wonder, one of her biggest inspirations, and then “Broadway Baby” along with Sissi Martins, who later sang “Defying Gravity” from the Broadway musical “Wicked” that she dedicated to all of us, the production of the show, to all who paid for tickets and were watching at home in these difficult times, to people who are out of work, to everyone who daily challenges reality.

“She Used To Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles was sung by Soraia Tavares followed by “Proud Of Your Boy” by Rubén Madureira, a song he dedicated to his mother.
The show ended then with the three singers doing a mega mashup that contained songs like “Hills are Alive” from The Sound of Music, “Seasons of love” from Rent, “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, “Alexander Hamilton” and “My Shot” from Hamilton, Tina Turner‘s “River Deep, Mountain High” and Queen‘s “Show Must Go On”.
The Livestream concerts“Serões no Casino Estoril” at Casino Estoril continue until the end of August and you still have to see the concerts of Paulo de Carvalho, today, the following week we have António Zambujo on the 20th; Catarina Clau, Vânia Blu and Nuno Martins on the 21st; Simone de Oliveira with Nuno and Henrique Feist on the 22nd; and Casa de Fados “O Faia” closing the concert week on Sunday.
Monday, August 24, Rui Xará will perform a stand-up comedy; on the 27th Susana Félix performs; day 28 is FF‘s turn; Starting the weekend we have Lúcia Moniz, Mariana Pacheco and Diogo Leite on the 29th; and “A História do Fado” with Henrique Feist, Valter Mira and Marta Alves on Sunday 30th.
To end this cycle of performances and concerts, it is Nuno Markl‘s turn to step up with another stand-up comedy performance on Monday the 31st. Tickets available HERE.
