Slayer final tour goes through Portugal with concert at VOA festival
The final tour of the North American band Slayer will pass through Portugal with a concert at the VOA festival, which will take place on July 4 and 5 of next year, the organization announced today.
The Slayers, accompanied by Lamb of God, join the Slipknot heads as well, according to the promoter’s statement.
“The Californian band, currently formed by Tom Araya on bass and vocals, Kerry King and Gary Holt on guitars, and Paul Bostaph on drums chose the tenth edition of the VOA – Heavy Rock Festival to bid farewell to the national fans”, can be read in the statement.
The organization recalls that “after a year of interregnum for restructuring, 2019 will be the year of the expansion of the VOA – Heavy Rock Festival,” celebrating its ten years of existence.
“The event moves to the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon on 4 and 5 July 2019 for two days that promise to celebrate the true spirit of the great rock and metal concerts,” remembers VOA.
The passes cost 75 euros and, the daily tickets, 50 euros.
In January, the Americans slayer announced the end of their career, after 37 years as a band, with a final world tour that began in the United States on May 10.
Raining Blood’s authors wrote that “after nearly 37 years of 12 albums, multiple live recordings, nearly 3,000 concerts in every corner of the world, countless prizes including five nominations and two Grammys, […] to have their own exposure on the Smithsonian, to cover the hundreds of magazines, the devastating loss of a founding brother, and to appear on the ‘Tonight Show’, the era of the Slayers , one of the biggest thrash / metal / punk bands of this or any era, is coming to an end. ”
His career was marked by albums such as Reign in Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss, as well as several controversies due to the lyrics and aesthetics used by the band with multiple references to Nazism, Satanism and other controversial issues.
