As part of the launch of Mar, her debut album, which will be released by UGURU on May 9th, Sofia Leão announces two presentation concerts for May 2nd and 3rd, at MACAM (Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art), in Lisbon.
In this double live debut from the young singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, expect soundscapes made of crystalline piano, ethereal electronics and vocal harmonies that undulate like emotional tides.
More than a concert, this performance is a debut with the smell of salt and goosebumps — a rare opportunity to experience live a new and unique voice in Portuguese music, still starting… but already with so much to say.
After the release of the second single “Não meconhece” (it followed “Valsa”), Sofia Leão released, on April 9th, the music video for the song, directed by João Eleutério with images captured by herself.
In this song, the artist takes on the vocals, piano and synthesisers, and features Bruno Silva on the viola. Sofia asks questions that are universal – “Where does the sea end? Where does the sky begin?” -, but which gains another resonance with his calm, almost whispered voice.
“This topic gives voice to some questions that make me curious. They fall from the sky and overlap each other and before an answer even appears, a new question arises. The more I realise how far away I am from these answers, the calmer I feel,” she explains.
