On Friday and Saturday, Sofia Leão performed her debut album, Mar, at the brand new Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art – MACAM, in the former chapel, now a bar/café and concert hall, of extraordinary beauty, in keeping with the themes that Sofia performed.
One of the promising artists of Portuguese music, Sofia, took to the stage to perform Mar, her debut album, for the first time. After performing “Valsa” and “Não meconhece”, Sofia Leão now reveals her full album in an intimate show.
At 18 years old, the singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer performed live and showed all her talent and charm to friends, fans, and family. She also had several national music figures, as well as her father, Rodrigo Leão, an unavoidable name in Portuguese music, in the audience.
With a sound that combines piano, viola, electronic music, and a sweet voice, Mar is a sensorial journey that invites the audience to immerse themselves in unique emotional landscapes.
Produced in partnership with João Eleutério, this first work reflects a personal journey that began at a young age — at the age of 10, she was already composing, and at 15, she transformed her bedroom into a studio where songs full of emotion were born.
With her father, the musician Rodrigo Leão, with whom she recorded for the first time at the age of 13, Sofia is now asserting her own musical identity.
