Sofia Saldanha launches novel “Quarenta e Um – O passado é hoje”

The book “Quarenta e Um – O passado é hoje”, by Sofia Saldanha, will be launched on the 25th of June, at 4.30 pm, at the SuitePark, at the Hotel Palácio Estoril. This is the first novel by the author who dedicates it to all women who have been victims of any act of violence. The work is edited by Primeiro Cabeça, from Grupo Editorial Atlântico.

“Quarenta e Um – O passado é hoje” is distinguished by the very lively and dynamic record of the author’s writing that, with her narrative, transports the reader to the fictional world, making him feel the multiple emotions of the different characters.

The violence exercised against women constitutes the mainstay of the existential universe of the characters in this novel, which invites the reader to make a deep reflection on a theme that tragically continues to be more and more current.

“It is very gratifying to launch my first original work because, in addition to starting my literary journey, this book in its matrix is a tribute to all women who have been victims of any act of violence and have struggled or debated with their own life options. May fear not take hold of them and that they love each other above all else”, underlines Sofia Saldanha.

“It is a book, through which I also intend to pay homage to all the people who struggle daily against addiction to alcohol, that persistence never abandons them”, concludes the author.

It is with the memories of courage that filled that house, that there is a certainty and it is, that certainty that is imposed: life is stronger than anything, even after all the blood that flowed through there, forgiveness is still a viable path . Change is difficult. It takes a long time, sometimes more than a lifetime.

We start the journey, but often we don’t finish it. Sometimes we believe we can make the crossing alone. It is between the past and the present that the details of all events are sought, often without being able to sustain the vicious circle. Everything seems distant, but the wounds actually haven’t healed yet, they’ve just been disguised.

Fear is a strange thing, but it has to be faced and just like a good mother never lets her children out of her eyes, wherever she goes, she looks at the sky, because she knows that she recognizes in each image, her story, as if finally return home again and find solid ground.
