Sons da Cidade this weekend with reduced program

With a shorter program compared to previous editions, the event starts on Saturday and runs until Monday, with a show for September 13th.

This weekend, the event includes guided visits to the University of Coimbra, visits associated with three writers with lives and works with a connection to Coimbra, two musical moments and an initiative at the Machado de Castro National Museum, where a look at seven pieces from his collection, accompanied by seven poems.

The first musical moment takes place on Saturday, with a three-stage musical journey, with three concerts at the Botanical Garden of Coimbra, which represent different “times”: the Galician-Portuguese troubadour songbook, by Ricardo Leitão Pedro, the 16th-century Conimbricense music and XVII, by Bando de Surunyo, and the electronic duo Ghost Hunt.

On Monday, there will be a performance by the group “Follow me at the Chapel”, in the courtyard of the Machado de Castro National Museum.

Sons da Cidade also has a show scheduled for September 13, entitled “73 Harps no Mondego”, a production by Nuno Feist, which proposes to bring together 73 harps in the same performance, which will revisit important moments in the history of the University.

For all events scheduled for June, a mask and prior registration are required.

The seventh edition of the cultural event is organized by Associação RUAS, University of Coimbra, Coimbra City Council and Regional Directorate for Culture of the Center.
