On the 24th, 25th and 26th of April, JP Simões, Gisela João and B Fachada will give voice to the trilogy of unique concerts, which pay homage to the songs and memories of the 25th of April.
The Tivoli BBVA Theater will celebrate the 50th anniversary of April 25th with “Sons de Liberdade”, three unique musical journeys into the country’s cultural repertoire, in the voices of JP Simões, Gisela João and B Fachada. The three concerts take place between April 24th and 26th, dates that represent freedom in the history of Portugal.
On April 24, JP Simões, who won the award for best popular music theme at the 2019 Authors Award Gala of the Portuguese Society of Authors, inaugurates the trilogy of concerts at the Tivoli BBVA Theater with a tribute to José Mário Branco by presenting first-hand the album “JP Simões sings José Mário Branco”.
The album, released in February this year, is a tribute to José Mário Branco, one of the most notable personalities as a singer, author, composer, arranger and musical producer of the last decades of the 20th century in Portuguese music.
Gisela João takes to the stage at the Tivoli BBVA Theater on the fiftieth anniversary of the Revolution, on April 25, for the show “Gisela Canta Abril”, in a cross-border collaboration with Spanish guitarist Carles Rodenas Martinez.
The show “Gisela Canta Abril” promises to bring a new dimension to the celebration of music and freedom, by honoring the songs of April’s authors and composers, uniting the musical traditions of Portugal and Spain.
The musical celebration of the memories of freedom culminates with the show by B Fachada, which concludes the trilogy of concerts “Sons de Abril”, presenting the show “Zeca, Zeca e mais Zeca!!!” on April 26, at the Tivoli BBVA Theater.
B Fachada grew up with the memory of José Afonso, a musician for whom he has a deep admiration and to whom he will pay tribute at the Tivoli BBVA Theater, through the singularity of interpretation and artistic language so unique to Bernardo Fachada.
“Sounds of Freedom” echo at the Tivoli BBVA Theater, as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the April Revolution. The musical repertoire is in charge of national artists and children of Portugal without a dictatorship, who will share their unique and original vision of the songs that shaped our recent history.
