Sporting alone takes the lead in the I League
At least until today's Porto x Braga game
Sporting maintains first place, after winning over Boavista, and is waiting for the match between Porto and Boavista to find out if he has company in the leadership of the I League.
Sarabia and Nuno Santos were the scorers for Sporting’s goals in the game against Boavista, at Estádio de Alvalade, in a duel related to the 14th round of the I League with the home team now with 38 points, three more than FC Porto, and seven more than Benfica, who only play today against Famalicão and Braga respectively. Boavista is still in 12th place, with 12 points.
Rúben Amorim brought in Flávio Nazinho, who made his debut in the starting eleven, and with the visiting team going full steam ahead, with Adán denying Gorré the goal, in the 8th minute.
Sporting was not far behind and soon wanted to take over the game, but the lack of aim or Alireza, in great form, was denying the goal to the Lisbon team, Porro, in the 10th minute, Sarabia, in the 12th minute, Nuno Santos, on 21′, Pedro Gonçalves, on 26′ and Matheus Reis, on 34′, were not effective in the finishing touch. Porro, at 43 minutes, managed to put the ball in the back of the net, but Matheus Nunes at the beginning of the play, was in an irregular position, and the goal was disallowed.
The second half had two forced changes, one for each side, Porro by Esgaio and Alireza by Bracali, and Sporting would benefit from the changes, Sarabia would end up scoring, on 53 minutes, with assistance from Nuno Santos, on 59 would be the turn of Sarabia to assist Nuno Santos, for Sporting’s second.
Pedro Gonçalves could still have scored the third for Sporting but scandalously failed in an open goal.
