Sporting beats Benfica and is in the playoff final
This Thursday, Sporting secured a place in the final of the playoff for the qualification of champion of the top echelon of Portuguese football, by defeating Benfica, in Luz, by 95-82, thus making the full of victories in the tie.
The team started very well in the match and won the first three periods in a categorical way, by 32-26, 20-16, and 30-14. However, they ended up relaxing in the final stretch, and finished the last quarter with a 13-26 disadvantage.
The green and white emblem, remember, had already won the first two matches of the round, at Pavilhão João Rocha, by 92-86 and 83-75, so this new triumph is worth the much-desired ticket to the final.
In the next phase, the group coached by Luís Magalhães will face FC Porto or Imortal. The dragons are, at this moment, in advantage in the tie, having won the first game by 92-67, and the second by 110-68.
