Sporting beats Belenenses SAD and returns to third place

Sporting won (3-1) against Belenenses SAD, and returned to third place.

Despite the victory by two goals difference, the result does not reflect the initial difficulties felt by the Leon group. With a system identical to that of the opponent, Belenenses SAD went from the beginning to an individual pressure and reaped fruits after nine minutes. Taking advantage of a mistake by Eduardo Quaresma, Show served Licá who opened the scoring in Cidade do Futebol.

Until half an hour into the game, Sporting was experiencing some difficulties in attacking, as they have been doing since the arrival of Rúben Amorim, and Belenenses SAD was taking advantage to play close to Maximiano’s goal looking for an opponent error that this to increase the advantage in the marker.

Sporting ended in a draw with a Coates goal in the 21st minute, in a move that had a poor approach from goalkeeper Koffi.

The Uruguayan international’s goal was able to balance the score in the game, and the goal could have fallen to either side.

Belenenses SAD kept the pressure high, and Sporting sought the game through the wings, namely the left where Nuno Mendes was, to try to reach the goal.

Jovane Cabral was also there, but he has made a difference in the finishing zone, where he was extremely effective on Friday afternoon. Served by Ristovski, the Cape Verdean winger completed the first turnaround of the Rúben Amorim era with an acrobatic kick shortly after half an hour, and the first encore in the football career with a penalty converted, on the second, over the whistle to the break.

The second 45 minutes were totally different. Failing to press with the same intensity of the initial stage, Belenenses SAD granted more spaces and Sporting knew how to control the game and left the opponent with little chance of making the second in the match.

Thus, Alvalade’s team had the 3rd consecutive victory in the championship, equaling their best record in this year’s edition of the I Liga, established in the first 3 games of Jorge Silas as the team’s coach in the competition. Rúben Amorim remains undefeated in the competition and has 12 wins and two draws between Sporting de Braga and Sporting.
