The winner of the match, to be held in two legs, on 15 and 18 September, with the first game in Alvalade, will face in the decisive second round the opponent to come out of the confrontation between the Bosnians of Igokea and the Romanians of U-BT Cluj Napoca.
The regular phase of the Basketball Champions League (BCL) will be played by 32 teams, 28 of which have already secured their place and the remaining four places will be played by 16 teams, including Sporting.
The first qualifying round will reduce the number of teams applying for the regular phase to eight and the second to four, who will have access to the decisive phase, to be played by four groups of eight teams. The best-placed four in each group advance to the play-offs.
The eighth and quarterfinals will be played, the final four will take place in May 2021.
Sporting won the right to participate in the basketball Champions League because it was the club that led the national championship at the time of its suspension, due to the covid-19 pandemic.
