Sporting loses to Gil Vicente
Moralised by the convincing mid-week Europa League triumph over PSV, Sporting disappointed and returned to their first league defeat 3-1 at Gil Vicente on Sunday night.
At Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, the team led by Jorge Silas signed a very poor performance, which showed a great lack of charisma and, above all, immense difficulties in creating occasions.
Always attentive to the lions’ attacks were the pupils of Vítor Oliveira, who welcomed Sporting with a well-studied lesson and had no problem assuming that the counterattack would be, for most of the game, their favorite weapon in offensive terms.
The result, therefore, only surprises those who did not attend the meeting. After all, Sporting did not create a real danger occasion throughout the match, except for Wendel’s goal.
