Sporting loses its unbeaten record in the Azores

I Liga

Sporting went to the Azores to play with Santa Clara, but the night was not favourable to the Lions, who after 11 straight victories, lost to the Azorean team by 3-2.

Santa Clara won Sporting for the first time, and for the winning path of the Lisbon team, with this defeat Sporting could lose the lead in the championship, if FC Porto manages to draw or beat Estoril, something that at the moment seems quite likely, due to the focus of Covide cases, with which the Estoril team is struggling.

Sporting missed the victory on two occasions, with the Santa Clara team, not being frightened by the national champion team,

Palhinha and Sarabia scored the lions’ goals, while for Santa Clara the scorers were Lincoln, Jean Patric and Ricardinho.

Sporting maintains the lead in the championship with 44 points, but could be overtaken by Porto, which hasn’t played yet, Santa Clara is 13th now with 16 points.
