Sporting revalidated today the title of European champion in Albufeira, with 25 points, in a race won individually by ‘lioness’ Fancy Cherono, in 20.15 minutes.
Cherono was the fastest in the 6,090 meters of the race, being imposed the Jeptoo Kimely (Kasimpasa) second classified to three seconds, and Trihas Gebre (Bilbao Athletics Santutxo), third to 28.
The sporting team added a second consecutive win in the European Champion Clubs’ Cup after the victory in 2018 at Mira, adding up to 22 points less than the Bilbao Bilbao Athletics Santutxo and 30 fewer than the Podlasie Bialystok, second and third classified, respectively.
In addition to the winner, Fancy Cherono, the Sporting team secured the title thanks to the performances of Sara Catarina Ribeiro, fifth to 38 seconds, Sara Moreira, sixth to 42, and Jessica Augusto, 13th to 1.12 minutes.
