Sporting wins against Belenenses SAD (2-0)
This Saturday, Sporting beat Belenenses SAD by 2-0, in a game counting for the third round of the League.
The lions opened the scoring after seven minutes, through Gonçalo Inácio, who best matched a cross by Rúben Vinagre.
The advantage increased to the national champions early in the second half, on 48 minutes, putting an end to any aspirations the visitors might still have for the match. Following a free-kick from the left, Palhinha appeared unmarked and turned to a first defense by Luiz Felipe, who no longer avoided the defensive midfielder from Leon.
Sporting completely dominated the match and wasted several opportunities to score, from the outset by Paulinho and Pedro Gonçalves, but tonight it was even the most defensive units, which proved to be equally effective close to the opposite goal.
Afonso Taira, blues midfielder, was sent off in the 89th minute for a very tough tackle on Palhinha.
Rúben Amorim’s team has three victories in as many matches, as Benfica had done at the end of the afternoon, with the triumph in Barcelos. Belenenses SAD accumulated its third defeat. A bad start for Petit’s men.
