Spotify celebrates Portuguese music by revealing the most listened to artists at Festival da Canção 2022

Spotify joins the celebration of Portuguese music by sharing with the Portuguese the most listened to songs and artists throughout the 2022 edition of Festival da Canção. The audio streaming platform continues to promote the connection between the artistic community and the Portuguese and explore what is happening in our country, taking national artists across borders.

The Portuguese followed this edition of the Festival on the platform, obtaining more than 710 thousand reproductions of the 10 songs that passed to the last stage of the competition. The number of times the finalist songs were heard by the platform’s users grew by an average of 128%, from the semi-finals to the announcement of the Portuguese representative in the Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled for May, in Turin, Italy.

MARO was the big winner of the Song Festival. At the age of 26, Maria Fonseca, who studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, in the United States, became known in full quarantine with her collaboration with Eric Clapton, shared on social media. Streams of last Saturday night’s winning song – “Saudade, Saudade” – in a few hours increased by 450%.

The most listened to songs in the 2022 edition of the Festival were “Saudade, Saudade”, with 229 thousand streams, followed by “Amanhã”, by Quatro e Meia, with 103 thousand streams. The podium closes with “Ainda Nos Somos”, by Syro, with 91,000 streams. Several songs from the Song Festival reached the top of Spotify in Portugal, the Viral 50 ranking of Portugal, the platform’s official playlist that portrays what the Portuguese listen to the most at the moment.
