Startups highlighted in the 5th edition of Building The Future

Building The Future, the main Portuguese digital transformation event, which will take place on the 25th and 26th of January 2023, and which has the main sponsorship of Microsoft and the organization of imatch, will once again stage startups during its 5th edition.

Throughout the second day of the event, Startup World, through strategy panels, masterclasses, and lectures, will promote the sharing of knowledge among the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

During the morning, four panels will aim to discuss the main concerns that startups face in the current macroeconomic context, as well as share real testimonies. Pedro Ribeiro Santos (Armilar Venture Partners) and Alexandre Teixeira dos Santos (Chamaeleon), moderated by Luís Rodrigues (Startup Braga), will take the stage to talk about expectations for the future from an investment point of view, while Teresa Silva Sousa (BPI), Meaghan Johnson (Rauva & 11:FS) and Afonso Carvalho (DeFi Researcher), moderated by António Ferrão (Portugal Fintech), will debate how the players look at the evolution of the financial industry.

To address the technical scalability of the product, namely how to grow from 100 to 10 million users or how to process thousands of events per second in a network of physical stores, highlight the participation of Rodrigo Coutinho (OutSystems) and Sensei, with moderation by Maria Oliveira (UPTEC), followed by the panel on globalization and how to expand the business internationally, with the experience of Marcelo Lebre (Remote) and Guilherme Pinheiro (Talkdesk) with the moderation of Gil Azevedo (Startup Lisboa).

During the afternoon, three masterclasses will be held which, through the know-how of the startup’s community, will have a more practical component. The CEOs of Leadzai (João Aroso) and Oscar (João Marques) will address customer acquisition and the differences between B2B and B2C companies, followed by the topic of Product Design with João Carreiro (Gallivanter), where the process of innovation and product creation. In the last masterclass, participants will learn to interpret a term sheet, focusing on practical cases.

Finally, Miguel Caldas (Microsoft) will talk about how technology impacts different industries and enables the emergence of new products, and companies or supports the development of new solutions.

More than 50 sessions are expected at this event, more than 100 speakers and more than 30 hours of content, including inspirational sessions, technical sessions, thematic workshops and debates, among others, which highlight the Financial Services, Utilities, Retail & Services, Health, Low Code, Cybersecurity, Data and Customer Experience.

In 2023, the BTF’s digital experience will be extended to all citizens for the first time, reinforcing the event’s commitment to its own mission of empowering all people and organizations in Portugal through technology.
