Startups with one million incentive to join industry 4.0

The Center for Engineering and Product Development (CEiiA) will join the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI) to bring together the startups and industries of the two countries, which will be able to count on one million euros.

ABDI, which manages the largest program of connection between startups and industry of the Brazilian government, will take advantage of the visit to Portugal to announce the start of the program Conexão Startup Indústria 4.0 which foresees an investment of 4.8 million reais (1, 1 million euros) in startups with solutions focused on industry technologies 4.0.

According to the information available on the ABDI website, the program will select 30 industries, three of the Portuguese, and 150 ‘startups’ (10% of Portugal). In the end, “the expectation is to have 60 ‘startups’ (six Portuguese) connected to the participating industries”. Each connected startup will receive 80 thousand reais (about 19 thousand euros) in incentives, totalling 4.8 million reais (1.1 million euros).

The program was launched in 2016 in Brazil and has already supported ten Brazilian industries that together account for approximately 8% of Brazil’s industrial GDP. Of the 27 startups that participated, 21 continue to develop projects with the industries, according to Rodrigo Rodrigues, ABDI Innovation Coordinator.

The memorandum of understanding between CeiiA and ABDI is part of a set of international partnerships that CeiiA has been developing through the 4Scale accelerator “with a view to launching programs that promote the rapid internationalization and scalability of startups”, he adds. the centre, in a statement.

The agreement will be signed on Thursday at the LACS building in Lisbon at an event promoted by ABDI, in partnership with the Federation of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce in Brazil, Atlantic Hub and No Gap Ventures, Web Summit.

Industry 4.0, or fourth industrial revolution, is oriented to the digitization and integration of systems, applied to traditional industry, with the various partners of the value chain “is transforming the reality of industrial enterprises.

ABDI leads a group of 150 Brazilian companies that will participate in the Web Summit and will announce the Startup Industry program during the event in an exclusive ‘stand’.
