Students in the Guard involved in Programming and Robotics project

The Town Hall of Fornos de Algodres started a Programming Introduction and Robotics Project in the 1st Cycle, which covers the students of the local School Group, was announced today.

The municipality presided over by Manuel Fonseca (PS) explains in a statement that the project aimed at students of the 1st cycle of Basic Education of the county is developed in partnership with the ICT Competence Center of the University of Aveiro.

The action has already begun with the training of teachers in this area of knowledge.

According to the note from the municipality of Fornos de Algodres, in the district of Guarda, “after the teachers have been trained, the project will travel inside the classrooms of the 1st cycle [of the Basic Education], so that they have the first contact with the project “.

Also according to the municipality, throughout the school year, the students involved in the initiative “will carry out various mini-projects in the area of programming and/or robotics“.

The municipality acquired several computers and robots that were handed over to the Algodres School of Fornos “so that the children can apply the acquired knowledge“.

At the end of the school year, a public presentation session will be held, which will be open to the community.

The session will allow everyone to follow “the innovative work” carried out by children, based on the knowledge of their teachers and the support of the ICT Competence Center of the University of Aveiro, top the source.

The Introduction to Programming and Robotics in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education of Cotton Ovens is part of the “Knowing the Present Project for the Future” program, which is part of the application of the Intermunicipal Community of Beiras and Serra da Estrela (CIM-BSE) ) to the Innovative Plan to Combat School Improvement in their area.

The CIM-BSE is made up of 15 municipalities, of which 12 are from Guarda (Almeida, Celorico da Beira, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Fornos de Algodres, Guarda, Gouveia, Manteigas, Meda, Pinhel, Seia, Sabugal and Trancoso) of the district of Castelo Branco (Belmonte, Covilhã and Fundão).
