Summer is (almost) here but first the rain returns

Rain is returning from mainland Portugal today, but with temperatures as high as 30 degrees Celsius in the Alentejo region, meteorologist Joana Sanches said.

The specialist of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) said that for today a possibility of precipitation is already foreseen, but only in the north and central coasts.

“Then on Tuesday rainfall will gradually spread to the rest of the continent. In the Algarve region and below Alentejo rain will be weak and with a tendency to decrease,” he said.

As for temperatures, Joana Sanches indicated that they will vary during the week, but not in a marked way.

“Today the maximum falls on the north coast and Algarve and tomorrow [Tuesday] the minimum has a tendency to a small descent, so today maximum temperatures are still close to 30 degrees in the Alentejo and from Tuesday will remain below the whole territory, “he explained.

The maximum temperature values, according to the meteorologist, will be between 20 and 26 degrees from Tuesday until the end of the week.

“The minimum will be between 10 and 12 degrees in the coastal regions and between 13 and 15 in the Algarve,” he said.

According to Joana Sanches, for Tuesday and Wednesday precipitation is scheduled and on Thursday, the eve of early summer, there is still a possibility of rain, but only in the North and Center regions.
