There are only 3 days left for new music to fill Avenida da Liberdade, in Lisbon.
There are only 3 days left until the most beautiful festival of Lisbon’s autumn returns. On the 24th and 25th of November, Super Bock em Stock brings some of the best new music of the moment, distributed across the various stages spread across Avenida da Liberdade and surrounding areas. Concert times are now available on the Festival’s official website.
The capital’s urban landscape intertwines with the best current proposals, in a truly unforgettable experience. At Super Bock em Stock we don’t expect to see the big names, on the contrary, and that’s the challenge, perhaps getting to know the names that will fill the posters of the big summer festivals in future years. Through the various editions since 2008, names such as Alt-J, Bala Quero, Beach House, Benjamin Clementine, Cigarrettes After Sex, Destroyer, Elza Soares, James Blake, Janelle Monáe, José James, Jungle, Likke Li, Masego, Michael Kiwanuka, Perfume Genius, Santogold, Sports Team, St. Vincent, Sudan Archives, Toro Y Moi, Whitney, Wet Leg, Wild Beasts, Woodkid and many others, before having the recognition they have today
This is how, just as we feel compelled to share with our friends that band we just discovered, Super Bock em Stock shares with the public the emerging names that are making people talk and those that may surprise the public, in a variety of ways. styles, genres and origins that are a mirror of the music that is emerging, such as, in this edition:
The Brazilian Gilsons, son and grandchildren of Gilberto Gil, the promise of British R&B Sam Tompkins, the solo project of Will Butler, ex-Arcade Fire, with the band Sister Squares, the infectious rhythms of Parisian Blaiz Fayah, the solo project of lead singer of Savages Jehnny Beth, the Norwegian-Filipino revelation Hillari, the alchemy of Phoebe Kildeer and Melanie Pain (Nouvelle Vague) in the Kill The Pain project, the rock of New Yorkers Lip Critic, the rap of Smoke DZA, the jazzy sounds of London collective Steam Down or the project by Brazilian producer Felipe Puperi Tagua Tagua.
Meetings between musicians and special concerts are also a hallmark of Super Bock em Stock’s DNA. This is how, in this edition, we will have the return of the powerful voice of the British Anna Calvi, the special concert of The Legendary Tigerman: ‘Songs for Dancing, Sweating & Kissing’, the on-stage meeting in B2B format of Batida com Bonga, the concert de Valete with the very special guests Moullinex, Papillon and Black Company, the debut on the stage at Coliseu dos Recreios by Filipe Karlsson, João Só with the participation of Capitão Fausto, or the supergroup formed by DJs Nigga Fox, Danifox and Firmeza O Guettão.
Since the first edition, Super Bock em Stock has given a prominent place to new Portuguese music. From rapper Azart to Zarco, and the Filtr Curatorship that presents us with the Capital of Bulgaria, VSP AST (Asian Vespa), Yang and xtinto, we also find a handful of beautiful new artists representing the explosion of new Portuguese music made in the feminine, such as Carla Prata, she read, INÊS ONLY, Inês Monstro, Joana Alegre, Mónica Teotónio, Silly or Soraia Cardoso.
These are just some highlights of the more than 40 concerts that we will be able to see in more than 10 venues spread across the heart of Lisbon, more than enough reasons not to miss it!
All of this takes place in the heart of the city, allowing us to enjoy it in a unique context and more than 40 concerts in a unique diversity of environments:
