In a SUPERLATIVE event, in partnership with Super Bock and Super Bock Super Rock, we hosted a very special night at Village Underground Lisboa. On December 16th, Octa Push opens the dance floor and then, we will have the long-awaited return of Batida B2B Poté.
Octa Push is the musical project of the Guichon brothers. After having released Língua in 2016, Octa Push returns with their third album of originals in 2023, titled Purga. Musically, it is the open door left by the previous album, where electronics mix with the influences that all the participants gave to the album, which are Aline Frazão, Emmy Curl, Ivo Costa, Larie, Meta, Nástio Mosquito, Prétu aka Chullage, Scurú Fitchadu and Basque in the variation of the final poem. They open tonight with Superlativo, continuing with Batida, who shines again in B2B with the Caribbean, Poté.
The happy meeting of Batida and Poté came about in London through Africa Express, a project that brings together musicians from different cultures, genres and generations, to break down borders and offer a new perspective on Africa and its music. It was through Damon Albarn, its founder, that the two artists met on stage for the first time and immediately recognized the need to combine synergies and create something together. “Ah!”, happened in 2022 in the form of a single and second track from “Neon Colonialismo”, Batida’s most recent album. In the video, we were able to follow the route they take by bicycle through the streets of Lisbon, from Amadora to Lux Frágil, representing the musical journey of both, who bring in their compositions, the heritage of those who were born in one place and grew up in another. Poté, the Caribbean artist with a presence in the Lisbon scene through Enchufada, (with whom he has already signed) and with important collaborations with Albarn, Benji B and Bonobo is once again Batida’s guest, to share the booth on an unmissable night. With admittedly different aesthetics, Batida and Poté find a common point in electronic music, house, “techno with groove”, where it is clear to those who watch, the brilliant outcome of this musical “courtship”.
