Surf is coming to Coimbra

Coimbra has project that encourages surfing on infrequent beaches

Cantanhede, Figueira da Foz and Mira are the municipalities included in a project that the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region presented, in Lisbon, to promote surfing on low frequented beaches.

The project “Surf in the crowd” aims to design these beaches of the Central Coast as a destination for practitioners of the sport, promoting surfing as a lifestyle for everyone.

This bet on surfing is part of a global project promoting a range of tourism products that also covers the historical themes of Romanization and French invasions, nature trails and cycling networks, among others.

To this end, over a period of two years, CIM invests more than one and a half million euros in the 19 municipalities that make up the Coimbra Region.

The “Surf no Crowd” public presentation will be held in Lisbon, at the Turin Boulevard Hotel, on August 14, at 16:00, with the presence of three project ambassadors.

The Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, the President of the CIM, José Carlos Alexandrino, the President of Tourism of the Center of Portugal, Pedro Machado, the President of the Coordination and Regional Development Committee of the Center, Ana Abrunhosa, attended the ceremony. as well as representatives of the municipalities and Ubiwhere, the company responsible for the execution of the project, linked to the University of Aveiro.
