Lua Escudeiro reached 3rd place today in the Junior Pro La Torche, a stage of the European Pro Junior circuit that ends tomorrow on La Torche beach, in France.
On a day when there was an authentic marathon of heats that meant that the national surfer had to enter the water four times, Lua reached the semi-finals where she lost with a score of 8.93 points (5.13 + 3.40) to the French Sara Leiceaga which achieved 11.66 points (6.83 + 4.83).
Maria Salgado also had a positive performance and reached 5th place, reaching the quarter-finals of the race. She was also eliminated by Sara Leiceaga who scored 8.13 points against the 7.93 points of the local surfer from Santa Cruz.
In the men’s category, the best surfer was Martim Nunes who reached 5th place. The current two-time Pro Junior national champion reached the quarter-finals having been eliminated by the Frenchman, Sam Piter, who scored 15.17 points against the national athlete’s 10.20.
Francisco Mittermayer finished in 9th place, behind the Israeli Elay Bochan and the French Luan Nogues.
The next stage of this circuit is the Junior Pro Razo-Caión which takes place from the 21st to the 24th of September in Galicia, Spain.
