Sven Helbig is a German composer whose work has been published on reference labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Neue Meister or Sony Classical.
His modernist vision of classical music has led him to combine choral and orchestral works with the most modern electronics, originality that has earned him much applause from specialized critics. Helbig was, for example, the author of the arrangements for choirs and orchestra in parts of two of the albums of the rock group Rammstein, one of the most famous contemporary German projects. The musician who lived in New York in the period following the fall of the Berlin Wall currently lives in Dresden. And if in his first work, ‘Pocket Symphonies,’ he looked for a symphonic density in the miniatures of the songs, in ‘SKILLS’, his new album, it is the detail of the artisanal work that inspires him to work with three horns, tuba and a quartet of strings.
Now, Sven Helbig is preparing his debut in Portugal with a special concert at the Museu do Oriente in which an ensemble of piano, violin, viola and cello will complement his electronics. In his luggage, the composer will bring not only the brand new and highly anticipated album S’KILLS’, which is now released by the prestigious label Modern Recordings but also key pieces that will carry us through his brilliant career. Unique opportunity to meet and applaud closely one of the most promising composers of the modern classical scene.
‘SKILLS‘, the new album by the acclaimed composer and arranger for choirs and orchestra, is now on sale. Sven Helbig will present themes from this album and others from his work in a concert that will mark his live debut in Portugal.
