Cascais Bay hosted the biggest open water swimming competition in Portugal.

The 9th edition of the Swim Challenge Cascais took place this Sunday, September 5, two years after the last edition, thus marking the return of major events to the municipality.

This competition, which has existed since 2012, is the largest open water swimming competition in Portugal and this year brought together, at Praia da Ribeira, in Cascais Bay, 500 athletes from 26 nationalities, among them the best national swimmers and triathletes.

The Swim Challenge Cascais includes distances of 3.8 km, 1.9 km and 1 km, as well as the kids event (400m and 200m). However, this Sunday, due to the fog that was felt during the morning, it was not possible to do the longest race, of 3.8 km.

With IronMan arriving in Cascais on October 24th, and departing from Cascais Bay, this was also an opportunity for athletes to get to know and test the route that will be done in this major event.
