The emerging artist following in 2025, the acclaimed singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sydney Rose, born in Georgia and resident in Nashville, launches the EP I Know What I Want, now available.
To celebrate the release, Sydney Rose now shared the official video of her first single, “We Hug Now”. The video captures the hypnotic climate of the song, illustrating a moving narrative about youth and friendships. Sydney wanders through a quiet suburb, sings in the backseat of a 1980s car, walks through the shelves of a local supermarket and watches her friends from a distance, while they seem to leave her behind. The video gives life to the spirit of the song in a cinematic way, with a vintage touch to the right extent.
About the video, Sydney said: “Making this video was like watching my Pinterest come to life. It perfectly captures what this song means to me — the feeling of being left behind, trapped, while the other person continues with his life as if nothing had happened. It was a pleasure working with director David O’Donohue and the crashbang team. It easily became one of my favourite videos!”

I Know What I Want reveals the scope of its artistic talent. Soft piano murmurs follow the main theme, “5 More Minutes”, where Sydney reflects on the passage of time: “I got so old so fast, and I cannot go back.” The song shows a rare empathy, perception and wisdom for his age. In “Dogs I Pass On The Street”, his vulnerable voice combines with a raw acoustic guitar, while confessing: “When I call my mom, I just try to be discreet, crying over dogs I pass on the street.” In another moment, his voice stands out in a sea of feedback in “Thank You For Trying”, where he deals with complex emotions about love: “It’s the way you exist, the way you kiss, makes me want to tell you I’m sorry.” Already in “Little Birds”, accompanied by a piano, offers a moment of relief and wisdom: “Go and change your perfume, you gotta let go of that version of you… list to the birds. ”
To promote the EP, Sydney will embark on the tour I Know What I Want Tour, her first as the main artist. The North American stage begins on June 9. The artist will then pass through Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin, ending this phase by integrating the BST Hyde Park poster in London, on July 4, next to leading artist Noah Kahan and special guest Gracie Abrams. Sydney joins a star-packed poster that includes FINNEAS, Gigi Perez, Paris Paloma, Hazlett, Jo Hill, Sebastian Schub, Kevin Atwater, and Lily Fittts, among others.
Last month, Sydney revealed a video of a live performance of her new single “We Hug Now”, a beautiful and melancholy song that is gaining prominence.
After a discreet journey, “We Hug Now” marked Sydney’s revival this year. Initially, he won TikTok with 500,000 creations and 2 billion accumulated views, reaching the Top 15 of the TikTok Top Songs table. With almost 50 million streams, the song entered the Top 3 Spotify US and Global Viral 50, in the Top 15 of the Shazam US Top Songs, in the Top 30 of the chart Apple US Songs and the Top 20 of the Genius Overall table. In addition, Sydney debuted at the Top 20 of the Billboard Emerging Artists chart and reached the Top 10 Hot Alternative Songs chart. Currently, it adds more than 5 million monthly listeners to Spotify and made its debut on the US Top Songs chart of the platform.
At the same time, the singer and songwriter has received acclaim from critics. The “Billboard” highlighted: “This post-relationship song begins as a soft and echoing ballad, like her musical heroine Phoebe Bridgers—but it’s the climax, with a shift to a more cathartic rhythm, which exploded at TikTok, with countless users identifying themselves with the lyrics. “
