Tânia Carvalho among choreographers invited by Ballet de Marseille

Portuguese choreographer Tânia Carvalho is one of four women invited to create a performance program to debut at the National Ballet de Marseille, in Paris and Marseille.

The invitation from the collective (LA) Horde, who took over in 2019 the artistic direction of the National Ballet of Marseille, Tânia Carvalho was invited to create a choreography for the new program, which will also include pieces by the choreographers Lucinda Childs, American, Lasseindra Ninja, Guyanese, and Irish Oona Doherty, indicates the company’s online website.

The four creators will contribute with their iconic, inclusive, and committed choreography style, to create an inclusive play, between expressionist plasticity and current social bodies in physical theater, linking the avant-garde of postmodern dance and the culture of dance that has emerged in the 19th century.

The presentations are scheduled for March 31 to April 2, at the National Theater in Marseille, and from April 8 to April 11, at the Châtelet Theater, in Paris.
