Tavira celebrates “Mediterranean Diet Days”

Despite the constraints resulting from COVID-19, the Municipality of Tavira did not want to fail to highlight, this September, the Mediterranean Diet. For this purpose, a series of initiatives were programmed to take place from September 2nd to 5th.

During these days, fado is highlighted with the concerts of Fábia Rebordão, on the 2nd, the Gala de Fado – Fado com História, on the 3rd, and Sara Correia, on the 4th, at 10 pm, at the Palácio da Galeria Park . Os Amor Electro, one of the main bands in modern Portuguese music, closes the program with a concert, on September 5th, at 10 pm, also in the Palácio da Galeria Park.

Also within this scope, activities of the Educational Service of the Municipal Museum of Tavira were planned, with traditional art workshops (taleigos, basketwork, and empreita), to be broadcast online on the Municipality’s Facebook, from September 3rd to 5th, at 10:30 am, as well as activities at the Municipal Market, where the culinary demonstrations with Chef Abílio Guerreiro stand out, on September 2nd and 3rd, at 10:00 am.

It is also possible to visit the itinerant exhibition of the Mediterranean Diet, at Mercado da Ribeira, from the 2nd to the 30th of September, and the exhibition “O polvo ordena” – photography and video by Pepe Brix, within the scope of the project “Roteiros de Pesca de Santa Luzia- Rota do Polvo e Rota do Atum-Barril”, Operational Program Mar 2020, Local Fishing Action Group of the Eastern Algarve, in the Hall of the Parish Council of Santa Luzia, from September 3rd, between 9:00 am and at 5:00 pm.

During this period, the usual craft fairs will also take place, in Jardim das Palmeiras, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 7 pm, in an organization of the associations ASTA, Almadrava, and Albacora with the support of the Municipality.
