Telmo Pires releases the fifth single “Não sou nascido do Fado”, with a home-made video clip, from his album “Através do Fado“
“I am not born of Fado, I was born of the world and life” – so the first words of this poem could not describe better what Telmo Pires is and what it represents today.
Telmo Pires was not even close to fado, but far away in the land of Trás-os-Montes and, even from that place, he moved further away: to Germany, the country where he grew up. It is perhaps due to the fact that he was far from his country, that Telmo Pires had to find his own way to discover and get closer to fado. In a fado that is only yours, in a way of being and feeling that it is only yours.
For this poem written by colleague and friend Ana Laíns, she chose the traditional “Fado Lopes” by Mário José Lopes. That is how he manages to give the necessary weight to the words and a certain hardness and aggressiveness to the message he wants to convey. The fate of Telmo Pires is the opposite of a regret, it is the face of your destiny and your life. And like the moldable water that flows, even against all obstacles to the sea, Fado de Telmo Pires runs through his veins and manages to reach the hearts of his audience.
“Não sou nascido do Fado” is part of Telmo Pires’ sixth album, “Através do Fado” released on February 21, 2020.
