Telmo Pires announces EP in honor of António Variações for March 2025. “Voz-Amália-de-Nós” is the first single to be released on December 3rd, the day that marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of the icon of Portuguese music, who died in 1984.
This theme, like the whole EP, has the production and arrangements of Tiago Machado and thus marks the first collaboration between these two musicians of today. Written and originally recorded by António Variações in 1983 on the album “Anjo da Guarda”, this song has a contemporary reading where the guitars (with the highlight of the Portuguese guitar by Luís Guerreiro) and the schedules intertwine naturally, without forgetting the evocative chorale notes.
More than thirty years after the version made by the Resistência and only four after the interpretation of Lina and Raül Refree, Telmo Pires created a very different version of “Voz-Amália-de-Nós” with his personal stamp and influences of Fado, where joy and melancholy merge. As in the life of António Variações. As in the lives of all of us.
