Portuguese surfer reached 9th place yesterday at the US Open of Surfing, the 4th and antepenultimate stage of the WSL Challenger Series circuit that takes place in Huntington Beach, California.
The Portuguese surfer reached the round of 16 of the competition where she was eliminated by the Australian, Sally Fitzgibbons. In a close duel, the former Championship Tour surfer achieved a score of 13.50 points (7.17 + 6.33) against 11.10 points (5.67 + 5.43) of the current national champion.
Thus ends the Portuguese performance in this competition with the 9th place of the surfer from Cascais who was the best national athlete in this event on American soil. Frederico Morais and Yolanda Hopkins were eliminated in Round 2 while Francisca Veselko and Carolina Mendes lost in Round 1.
The penultimate stage of the Challenger Series takes place from the 1st to the 8th of October at Ribeira D’Ilhas beach, in Ericeira.
