Teresa Bonvalot leaves Hawaii with 17th place

WSL World Tour

Teresa Bonvalot concluded, this Monday, the participation in the second stage of the World Surfing Tour of the World Surf League with a final 17th place, after not having passed any round in Sunset Beach. After achieving 9th place in Pipeline, the national champion said goodbye to Hawaii with a defeat in the recaps.

Teresa was in the water on two occasions on the opening day of the Hawaiian leg, but on neither of them did she manage to find the sea. The Portuguese surfer was in action in the first heat of the championship, where she was beaten by the Australian Molly Picklum and the Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb, not getting more than 0.67 points.

The national champion returned to the water in the repechage round, where she faced the Hawaiian Gabriela Bryan and the American Caroline Marks. Teresa was unable to improve her previous performance and was eliminated, with a score of 0.77 points.

Teresa Bonvalot now returns to Portugal, where the third stage of the 2023 world circuit will take place in early March.  The Portuguese surfer still does not have a guaranteed presence in Peniche, but she could benefit from the status of the first substitute if any of the currently injured surfers do not recover in time.
