The 1st International Festival of Street Arts in Eurocity has successfully ended

The 1st International Festival of Street Arts has successfully ended and the organization has already started preparing the 2022 edition

The magic of the different artistic disciplines conquered Eurocity Tui-Valença last weekend with the 1st International Festival of Street Arts. A unique event due to its uniqueness, taking place simultaneously in two cities in two countries.

Streets and squares were the stage for several theater, clown, music artists… who found the public’s complicity in their shows.

Twenty-two shows were performed at Jardim das Amoreiras and Largo do Governo Militar, Fortaleza de Valença and Paseo da Corredoira, Paseo Fluvial and Plaza de la Misericordia in Tui. The auditorium of the Superior School of Business Sciences of Valença, the Municipal Theater and the pavilion of the IES São Paio in Tui hosted the shows that had to be moved due to the rain. The festival had a covid protocol in a commitment to a safe culture.

The family audience was the main recipient of the festival’s programming, which brought together various performing arts. Mamá Cabra and A Gramola Gominola offered the most crowded shows, while music by Farra Fanfarra and BrassDass traveled through the streets and squares.

Antón Choucheiro, Pajarito, Clown Enano, David Gonçalves, Arsenio Baruffi, Fredi & Cia, and Circo Chosco mixed, in their shows, theatre, acrobatics, juggling,… filling the weekend of entertainment in the Eurocity.

The Concello de Tui and the Câmara de Valença also highlight the collaboration provided, for the development of activities, by young volunteers from Valença, from the Alhoia Escoteiro and Civil Protection Group of Tui. The effort of municipal employees, from both municipalities, the company responsible for the production, together with the good response from the public, allow for an extremely positive assessment of the event.

This Festival is the first project, which, within the scope of Eurocity, is jointly and directly organized by the Concello de Tui and the Câmara de Valença. A festival that intends to assert itself as one more attraction to this cross-border territory, where heritage, culture, nature and history come together.

After the successful closure of this first edition, Tui and Valença have already started working on the 2nd International Festival of Street Arts for 2022.

The event was funded by the UNICIDADE project, co-financed by Interreg V-A 2014-2020 Spain-Portugal.
