Tesla plans to produce its own batteries

Tesla plans to start producing its own batteries, with documents obtained by Reuters proving that Elon Musk’s company plans to build a battery research and production plant in Fremont, California.

Tesla did not comment on the news, but given that batteries are the most expensive components of electric cars, it is not surprising that the company plans to cut production costs and rely less and less on suppliers.

The idea of this new battery manufacturing plant is that it will work without any stoppage, employing 470 employees, 400 of whom would work in shifts to ensure constant production.
