The 2020 edition of the Baía das Gatas Festival scheduled for August 14, 15 and 16
The City Council of São Vicente announced this Thursday, 14, 15 and 16 August as the date for the 36th edition of the International Music Festival of Baía das Gatas.
Baía das Gatas, known as the “magical place by nature”, hosts an annual music festival that moves São Vicente on an artistic, festive, human and economic level in August.
The disclosure of the date, seven months from the event, aims, according to information available on the official Facebook page of the municipality, that emigrants and the general public can organize in advance their holidays and commitments at the time of the festival.
The festival was first held on August 18, 1984, and is held annually on the beach of Baía das Gatas, and since then only in 1995 has not been held due to a cholera epidemic that has plagued Cape Verde.
Each year, the São Vicente City Council, which organizes the event, reserves a budget in the municipal budget to cover the logistics, travel and caching expenses of artists from Cape Verde and abroad, while the bulk of the amount to support The event, according to the municipality, comes from sponsorships of companies.
