The Black Mamba releases Lost in London today

the new album recorded live at the legendary Abbey Road Studios

The Black Mamba releases their new album Lost in London today, celebrating the band’s 15-year career. Recorded live at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, the album revisits some of the most iconic songs from the group’s four albums, now reinvented in an intimate, live-on-tape recording.

On Lost in London, The Black Mamba are not just revisiting their repertoire, but reviving it in a space steeped in history. The album is a synthesis of 15 years of studio and road recordings: sophisticated yet visceral, global in the language of soul, funk, and blues, yet unmistakably Portuguese. It’s a record that places them in the footsteps of those who trod Abbey Road before them, while definitively cementing their identity.

In total, 9 songs are given new life on Lost in London. From their self-titled debut album (2010), “It Ain’t You” reminds us how soul and emotional intensity defined the band’s identity from the outset. “Ride the Sun,” from their second album, Dirty Little Brother (2014), is a hymn to the vital energy and hope that accompany the sunrise. From their third album of new material, The Mamba King (2019), four great songs are revived: “She,” the lead single from Lost in London, an intense and moving ballad about love and vulnerability; “Slow It Down,” an invitation to pause and introspection; “Grey Eyes,” a poetic portrait of memories and affections that endure the test of time; and “DFA,” the cathartic closing track. From their most recent album, Last Night in Amsterdam, the selection falls on three songs that cannot be missed from concert lineups: “Love Is Dope,” a contagious groove that celebrates the transformative power of love; “Sweet Amsterdam,” a musical journey through the city streets, and “Crazy Nando,” a festive explosion, whose original video, made during the COVID-19 lockdown, is a true libertarian manifesto in response to the period of social distancing caused by the pandemic.

Recorded in one of the most iconic studios in music history, home to artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Kate Bush, and Kanye West, Lost in London represents The Black Mamba’s entry into this lineage of greats, reinforcing the band’s status as one of the Portuguese musical projects with the greatest international impact.

The release of Lost in London is being accompanied by the screening in three NOS cinemas of a documentary that brings together behind-the-scenes footage, stories from the road, and the recordings at Abbey Road Studios. Cinema NOS Norte Shopping presents the last of these three screenings today in Porto, following its premiere in Lisbon at Cinema NOS Vasco da Gama and its run in Coimbra at Cinema NOS Alma Shopping. The band will be present at this final screening, holding a meet-and-greet open to all fans before each screening. The last tickets can be purchased at cinemas.nos.pt
