The Breeders celebrate 30 years of Last Splash at NOS Alive’24
The Breeders, one of the bands that shaped the alternative scene of the 90s, arrives at the NOS Stage on July 13th of the 16th edition of NOS Alive.
Tickets are now on sale at the usual places and nosalive.com. The FNAC NOS Alive’24 Fan Pack, an exclusive pack made with fans of the festival in mind, is also now on sale in FNAC stores and on fnac.pt.
The Breeders’ album Last Splash, released in 1993, celebrates its 30th anniversary with an unprecedented remaster. Composed by Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson, the album is marked by the success of the song “Cannonball“. The band’s versatility is evident, from its melancholic melodies to the most frantic grunge moments.
The album’s raw energy results from spontaneous approaches and experimental production techniques. The mixing process at the legendary Record Plant in Sausalito was not without challenges, such as the accidental deletion of a portion of the track “Do You Love Me Now.” 4AD Records designer Vaughan Oliver’s unique artwork is gloriously reimagined for this special edition.
The remaster, titled Last Splash (30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition), includes a vinyl with two previously unreleased tracks: “Go Man Go” (co-written by Kim Deal and Black Francis) and an alternate version of “Divine Hammer” with vocals by J Mascis, called “Divine Mascis”. This release celebrates an iconic album from the 90s, highlighting the lasting influence of “Last Splash” which culminates in a celebration on the NOS Stage, on the last day of NOS Alive’24.
