The Portland band returned to the Portuguese stages, this time passing through the LAV in Lisbon, the only stage contemplated in Portugal, in their European tour that also passes through Spain and France.
The North Americans who already have three decades of career and 10 original albums, the last “Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone” of 2020 have not been to Portugal since 2010 when they performed at the Festival Paredes de Coura.

Combining psych-rock, shoegaze, power pop, synth pop, and more with the sassy detachment of their pop-art namesake, The Dandy Warhols are equally skilled at daydreaming and satirical pop.
Early hits with “Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth” (from their 1997 debut “The Dandy Warhols Come Down”) and “Bohemian Like You” (2001’s “Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia”), both twisting hipster culture with a wit that suggested they were America’s answer to British pop.

Later in the 2000s, they dipped into synth-pop on 2003’s “Welcome to the Monkey House”, and indulged their excesses on 2005’s Odditorium or Warlords of Mars.
While more subdued efforts like 2016’s “Distortland” suggested The Dandy Warhols might be coming of age in their third decade, 2019’s “Freewheeling Why You So Crazy” proved they were committed to keeping their listeners guessing.

It was a knowledgeable audience that received them at the LAV, with them they sang and vibrated with each theme, we can hear, among others, themes such as “We Used to Be Friends”, “The Last High”, “Styggo”, “Arpeggio”, “ I Love You”, “Holding Me Up”, “And Then I Dreamt of Yes” and of course “Bohemian Like You”, perhaps the band’s best-known theme after being used in a Vodafone campaign, rising to the UK top 5, but the band showed again that it’s much more than this song on the LAV.

The Dandy Warhols, are named after a play by pop artist Andy Warhol and consist of Zia McCabe on keys, Cortney Taylor-Taylor on guitar and vocals, Brent DeBoer on drums, and Peter Holmström on guitar.
